Los Angeles: Actress and singer, Selena Gomez, has cancelled her performance on the upcoming The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on April 22 to focus on her health after contracting COVID-19.

Gomez, who has worked with Fallon for the past four years on the variety show, was first tested for the virus in February after she returned from the Philippines.

“I’m really sorry to all of my fans and friends,” Gomez wrote on her Instagram page, while adding in the caption, “I’m doing the best I can.”

Last week, following her return from the Philippines, Selena shared a picture of herself on Sunday with her husband, Justin Bieber, who was also in the Philippines.

“I’m feeling the love. This has been an amazing 12days. From the Philippines to LA!” she captioned the photo and added, “This is the first time ever that I can be proud of my health!!!”

“I am sorry to all my fans for making you all concerned. It has been a tough journey and I know I am not the only one and I am not going to sugar this up. I know you are going to think I have lost it. I’m sorry for that, because I’m really not,” Gomez wrote in the caption.

“The bottom line is that I am feeling sick, but not sick enough to cancel the show. You’re all so sweet to stay tuned for my update,” she continued.

“Thank you all for your wonderful support. I know that you’re going to continue to get updates on my health and progress, but for now I’m going to take some time and focus on myself.”

Gomez then shared another picture of her with Justin, this time accompanied by her sister, 21-year-old Victoria G
