The very unlikely reason Dog The Bounty Hunter is looking to get back on TV

New York City—Dog The Bounty Hunter is looking to get back in the reality TV game. (**Update:**the show has been scrapped.)

That’s what the 63-year-old program host, Terry McGinnis, told Joe Rogan on Thursday during a podcast interview. The two are promoting Dog: The Bounty Hunter (Set & Screen Style) — a new home furnishings line by TRC founder Jenn McGinnis.

During their podcast (a recording of which was obtained by CNN), the two talked about other upcoming projects.

Then, Rogan pressed McGinnis about his recent move into a reality TV project that would involve a manhunt.

“There’s going to be, in my opinion, a manhunt,” Rogan said. “And it’s not going to be just me, it’s going to be five women. Because you know, I don’t like that thing, that thing with the crazy women and the manhunt. It’s really a clown show, you know?”

The way Rogan sees it, the Buffalo native has to back down because the show “got way too crazy.”

“To tell you the truth, I don’t really like it either,” Rogan continued. “Sometimes I just want to grab ’em and kick ’em and throw ’em into the lake. That’s what it is.”

Trouble with a Mean Lady

Dog, of course, had a series of run-ins with his show’s most infamous scene — the infamous dog-crushing. It started with a dog owner named Manasha Woods who was screaming obscenities at Rogan and the bounty hunters after he was arrested and had his dog, named Beau, taken away. He was eventually arrested and was charged with assault and disorderly conduct.

In addition to being arrested and facing a disorderly conduct charge in Buffalo, Woods has since pled guilty to one count of disorderly conduct. She was fined $250, which was reduced to a $20 court surcharge.

The racially charged incident ended with Woods and her ex, Andrew, trying to leave the courthouse together in a car. Andrew was detained and handcuffed. A video of that incident went viral and the TV program conducted an investigation.

The investigation found no evidence that either man was mean to the woman’s dog, but found that Andrew followed in Manasha’s footsteps, yelling vulgarities and attempting to attack the black woman — not his white pit bull. Andrew was arrested and charged with obstruction of governmental administration and second-degree harassment. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail but was released after appearing in court three days later.

All are recovered and now in good health. Andrew and Manasha both apologized for their actions and took steps to reflect on the incident. Manasha has spoken in public about the incident, and she and her attorney have filed an amicus brief in an ongoing case. She has also moved on, and accepted several job offers after the episode aired.

Future Reality TV Appearance?

While the show has been cancelled, that doesn’t mean Dog won’t make a return to the reality TV circuit. He has plans to hang up his no-nonsense bail bondsman hat to work on a reality show focusing on his business.

During the podcast, McGinnis also confirmed that he would be appearing on the next season of Celebrity Big Brother.

Among a number of other talking points, the two chatted about how much and how well Rogan’s wife, Susan, likes his dogs, Bobby and Bambi.
