Drake wins songwriter of the year at the 2022 SOCAN Awards
‘Sign of the Times’ is a song about the effect of love on the world.
“If you’ve ever been through a breakup,” says Drake, “and you’re in love with somebody, it will change the world for that moment”. In the video he shot for “Sign of the Times”, he tells the story of how he met his partner – and how they both lost their heart.
The new single has been selected as a Song of the Year for the 2022 SOCAN Awards.
The ceremony will take place at London’s Royal Opera House on November 8, before a red carpet premiere on November 10.
And it’s the latest to capture the heart of Drake: last year’s SOCAN Song of the Year winner was The Weeknd’s ‘Blinded By Beauty’, and the ceremony will also honour songwriter Sia’s ‘Chandelier’ and Justin Bieber’s ‘Like I Would’.
Drake is nominated for two more awards in the category, while Justin Bieber is nominated in three.
Ahead of the ceremony, Drake took time out from his schedule to give his reaction to winning Song of the Year – and he was all smiles:

The rapper took to social media to express his gratitude to both for supporting him over his musical career so far, and also for
